A bit About Me

I love connecting with people. I’m usually the last one to leave a get-together and am quite comfortable starting conversations with complete strangers. This is why, for over 20 years, I have gravitated to customer engagement roles. I have worked in IT/Computer Networks, marketing, retail, services (mentoring). I have also worked with NGOs and Not-For-Profits, during which time I have organised and hosted events, including promotion.

I’ve always been a keen observer of people. This fuelled my passion for completing my BA in Communication (emphasis in journalism). There is so much you can learn about a person’s mood or how they feel about something just by listening to the tone of their voice. I have an extra sense for this sort of thing.

I am a very transparent and honest person. I guess this is why I connect with people quickly. Because I am a very open person, people feel they can trust me and open up a bit about themselves as well. Also, I have worked with, and spoken to, people from so many different industries that I am able to add to conversations on a wide variety of topics. This is just another way I am able to connect quickly with people.

When I’m not working I love to relax, read and, of course, catch up with friends. This often involves good food and a most excellent coffee (I confess I am a coffee snob).

I’m most at peace in nature, so I love bush walks. My attempt at bringing nature inside has evolved into an obsession with indoor plants. I also enjoy lazy days outside in my garden.

I express my creative side by writing for my blog and the occasional poem. I also love to sing, and learning to paint is on my wish list.
